We were so excited for the appliances that came with the house we purchased last year - all brand-new, (we thought) top of the line Kitchenaid appliances. Had we known about what this fridge would cost us, we would never have factored its staying into our real estate deal. We've had nothing but trouble with this fridge for almost an entire year now. First, the 'open door' alarm was sounding incessantly - despite no open door. Then all interior lights went out inexplicably, so a service call was placed. Initially, a quick repair was attempted, but then they were back out within a week to have another look when the temperature-control panel on the drawer stopped working. The entire harness needed to be replaced, which was thankfully taken care of by whirlpool. We were still out the two service call fees. Next, we had the repair done, and it's likely what caused the water line to snap when the service person forcefully wrestled the fridge back into place; thus began a water leak that would go undetected for months. After replacing our entire floor of basically-new hardwood floor this summer due to said leak, we thought we were in the clear. Not so. Out of the blue, the fridge began to leak water one day - it sounded as if there was a faucet inside that had just turned on. Luckily, we were nearby and were able to prevent major damage to our brand new flooring this time. No explanation from this service person, but I made it clear that I was done with small repairs on what is obviously a lemon of an appliance. For the price point, I expected much more from this appliance! What's worse, because we inherited this brand new fridge as part of a home purchase, we were not the ones to purchase the warranty. Whirlpool Canada has offered to replace the fridge with significant 'participation' on our part because we do not have the extended warranty; essentially, we've just 'rented' a fridge for the past few years while it caused hours of headaches, tens of thousands of dollars in damage, three weeks of living in a renovation we did not anticipate, hundreds in repair fees...and still, the best we can hope for is to pay $1500 in order to start down this path again. Save your money and go with a company that stands behind their products.

We just built a new lake home and we were looking for something that would hold a lot of items and still look stylish. We love this fridge - the additional 2 drawers under that main doors have been an awesome addition. When it is time for us to get a new fridge for our home - we will definitely purchase this refrigerator.

so after having two service visits in three weeks with no resolution, they are ordering new doors, I get a call a few days later saying it will be 8 WEEKS!!! yep thats right within the first year I will be without a refrigerator for TWO MONTHS, emailed kitchenaid and they kindly offered to extend my warrantee by six months, great i have a big hunk of useless metal in my kitchen for another 6 MONTHS! where are the lemon laws, this is not the Kitchen aid I remember where they sent out technicians who would take the whole thing apart and fix it no matter what! I thought buying american would be better than the other guys.... pretty sure they will not post this review either, thats OK I have screen shots of my attempts to post them
