We had and loved an LFX28978SB Ultra-Large Capacity 3 Door French Door Refrigerator with Ice Water Dispenser for 12 years. When it recently gave up the ghost we didnt hesitate to immediately shop for a new LG to replace it. We shopped the Memorial Day sale prices and thought we were buying essentially what we had before with the addition of the snazzy see-through door. We knew it was slightly smaller but still its a large capacity counter depth fridge. It looks great. We have no need for the see-through door but it looks cool. Unfortunately there is so little flexibility related to arranging the shelves Im not really sure this is going to work for us. And I dont know what to do about it. First its missing the folding shelf. Theres no way to store tall items upright on any of the shelves unless you remove the shelf above it altogether and store it in a closet or something. We miss that most of all. And there are hardly ANY slot options for adjusting the shelves. If we change the configuration at all we will end up with very narrow spaces between some shelves that would be useless. Second there is no flip-up door on the butter keeper. Its a bin at the top of the door and you have to reach up and over and down into the bin to get to the butter. I am 5 1. I have never seen anything like it. Ridiculous. Third on our old LG the temperature controls alarm settings and all of that were on a panel near the ice dispenser on the outside of the fridge. Now if you want to look at or fiddle with those controls you have to stand there with the fridge door open. Not good. Fourth instead of three crisper-type drawers there are two. At first I thought this might be a good thing but even though there is one drawer on each side -- and this is a French Door Fridge -- you must open BOTH doors to pull open either drawer. Additionally even though the compare function on the retail stores webpage showed that these drawers including the deli/meat drawer had humidity controls NONE of them do. And none of the drawers really feel as solid as the ones in our old unit. Things that we do like are the SpacePlus ice system which is great. We had that in our previous fridge. I also like that it has a second ice maker in the freezer. All in all I have to say that I am very disappointed. And honestly I feel as though Ive made a poor choice for our needs. I did my best to compare the available products in three ways: the matrix on the retailers website looking at the LG website and even downloading the product manual. The product manuals are so consolidated that they cover a multitude of models and you have to navigate an ocean of asterisks and crosses and footnotes upon exception lists that its impossible tell what each model truly has. I fear that Im going to have such negative feelings for this product moving forward that I may just have to sell it and get something totally different which is overwhelming to even think about. But every time I go to grab a stick of butter or try to figure out where to put that bottle of wine or wonder why my veggies and meats dont keep as well as they did in the old fridge... Well I dont want to be hammered by those feelings over and over again for the life of the fridge. Bottom line: I feel like we settled when we actually thought we were buying up from what we had. Not good. My wish would be a do-over. We still love LG refrigerators but wish I could turn back the clock to a couple of weeks ago.

Love the see through door Plenty of refrigerator room. The freezer is awesome as well. Plenty of deep room for meats and heavy items and live the pull out door for lighter items
